Citizen BM8080-59M Description

Whether navigating a business deal or the rough ocean waves in your kayak, make a bold statement with the Citizen BM8080-59M Corso stainless steel men’s watch. This large, round watch measures 1.5 inches in diameter and sits prominantly on your wrist. It’s powered by Citizen’s unique Eco-Drive, which absorbs sunlight and any artifical light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. With regular exposure to light, the Eco-Drive continuously recharges itself for a lifetime of use.

It features a polished stainless steel bezel with scalloped highlights, textured blue dial background, silver dial markers, luminous stick hands (with second hand), and day/date feature at 3 o’clock. The round case is fully integrated into the rounded link bracelet band, which is joined by a push-button, fold-over clasp. Other features include Japanese quartz movement, water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet).

  1. JWx says:

I recently purchased this watch as a gift to my mother on her wedding day. I had looked at this watch in a local jewelry store and decided to check the price on Amazon for a comparison.

I was glad to see that I could buy it at a more affordable price online, but it would have been worth the price in the store!

  2. J. Young (Spokane, WA) says:

I bought this watch about 4 years ago and have never had any sort of problems with it. It endures everything from a dressed-up night on the town to low-crawling through the mud, and it has never missed a second.

Except for a few scratches, it still looks great, too! I love the fact that I don’t have to think about winding it or changing a battery…ever.

I actually just put another Citizen on my wish list and am dropping hints to my wife. I hope I get to own another one soon.

  3. D. Fillingham (Maryland) says:

I’ve had this watch for a little over a month. It looks very classy without being garish or “over the top.” I’ve been particularly impressed with its accuracy. I set the watch once – when it was given to me as a gift – and it is still so accurate that I can’t detect any variance from my radio-controlled clock.

I like the fact that the watch displays both the day of the week and the date of the month. The watch hands are easy to see in the dark, though as someone else pointed out, the watch face has no glow-in the dark features. I’ve had no problem keeping the watch running with the light that it obtains from ordinary day-to-day exposure.

I did have to take the watch to a jeweler to get the watch band adjusted – I think adjusting the band is a job for a professional. My cost for that was $10. The watch band is very comfortable, and feels very secure on my wrist.

Nice watch very well designed clasp easy to open and close Very satisfied and would recomend this watch

  5. Charles Burdick "WX Wookie" (Clarksville, TN) says:

I bought this watch in Japan 5 years ago and other than the band being huge and had to be taken in a few notches. This has been the best watch I have ever owned; minus the lack any illumination and the glow in the dark hour/minute hands only last about an hour or so.

I eventually had the bezel replaced last year due to some scratches that was caused by my own clumsiness. But that barely cost 1/5 of what I paid for the watch and was well worth extending the life/beauty of it. I just recently bought my second Citizen, the “Army” green one for $90 just to wear at work and would be more than happy in a few years buy a Citizen Dress watch to complement my casual and work watches. The solar power works great and they keep great time.

  6. Mackles "Livin' on Island Time" (Charleston, SC United States) says:

I purchased this watch for my father as a Christmas/birthday gift. He’s typically always worn a nice watch, but with an alligator or leather band. He wanted something that was a little more versatile; something he could wear to work and also more formal events (the leather bands just weren’t cutting it). He’s also a “no-frills” kind of guy, so I wanted to find something that looked simple, but had very good quality. After a LOT of searching (I mean days and days of searching),

I finally came upon this watch. I love the dark blue backface, the sleek matte silver band (its not a very shiny metal), and all of the other aspects of the watch. I purchased this several years ago and he still wears it every single day. It’s held up fantastically.
    Thank you!
